Carla Bruni

Carla Bruni is a singer-songwriter, former supermodel, and the former First Lady of France. Born to a concert pianist and opera composer, Carla learned to play the piano and guitar at a young age. At 19 she embarked on what developed into a very successful modeling career, but soon reverted back to her love for music. Carla began writing songs for famous French singer-songwriter Julien Clerc, then wrote and composed her first album, Quelqu’un m’a dit.

Carla has since released two more albums, No Promises, which sets English poems to music, and Comme Si de Rien N’était, incorporating a wide range of genres including pop, bluegrass, jazz and flamenco.

In 2003, Carla received both the Prix Raoul Breton award from SACEM (French association of songwriters and composers) to recognize and encourage an up-and-coming songwriter or composer, and the Victoire de la Musique for Best Female Artist.
