Downtown Music Publishing has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with BMI Award Winning Songwriter and Producer Tim James. James is also the co-founder of Rock Mafia, a songwriting & production team he launched with his partner, Antonina Armato, who has been signed to DMP since 2007. The agreement was announced today by Downtown’s CEO, Justin Kalifowitz.
Included in the Tim James agreement is Selena Gomez’s new single “The Heart Wants What it Wants,” penned by James and Armato, which is quickly breaking into the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100, currently sitting at #6. Additionally, the agreement with Downtown will cover such hit singles as Selena Gomez's “Love You Like a Love Song” and ”Naturally,” Miley Cyrus’ “Can’t Be Tamed” and “See You Again," and Coca-Cola's FIFA World Cup Anthem "The World Is Ours" among many others.
Additionally, DMP has formed a new joint venture publishing company with Rock Mafia to sign emerging songwriters and producers. Ryan O’Donnell has been appointed VP, Creative/A&R and will work to bring new talent to the venture. Previously, O’Donnell was a producer manager at New Heights Entertainment working with the likes of RedOne and Adam Anders and has held A&R positions at Interscope and Maverick.
