Congratulating 2017 AIMP Award Winners Kelly Archer and Big Yellow Dog

Congratulations to Kelly Archer, who won Rising Independent Songwriter of the Year at the 2017 AIMP Nashville Awards, as well as our partners Big Yellow Dog Music, who won Publisher of the Year!

Kelly joined the Downtown roster, along with partner RED Creative Group, two years ago. After coming on board, she has been on a major hot streak with 3 hit singles in Canada and, more recently, four songs on the country singles charts since March of 2016 with Cassadee Pope, Brett Young, Justin Moore, and Chris Lane. Kelly was also just named a SOCAN Award Recipient for her Top 10 Jess Moskaluke co-write “Take Me Home.”

Just last fall she scored her first #1 with her co-write on the Brett Young single “Sleep Without You” and her latest co-writes “Somebody Else Will” by Justin Moore and “For Her” by Chris Lane are currently climbing the charts.

Our VP of A&R at Downtown Nashville, Steve Markland, shares his reaction and our back story with Kelly: “Multi-talented veteran writer Kelly Archer happened to be looking for a new pub deal right about the time when we opened the Downtown Nashville office, so the timing was impeccable. Kelly has the support of the Nashville writing community for being an amazing writer over the past 10 years; she was simply overdue! She makes a publisher's job a lot easier...thank you Kelly!”

An equally well-deserving win for our client and prominent independent music publishing and artist development company, Big Yellow Dog Music. The Nashville-based company represents top songwriters including Meghan Trainor, Josh Kear, and Maren Morris, among many others.
