Call to Action: Songwriter Petition to Congress

Songwriters and Songwriter Representatives:

Happy New Year!

As some of you know, it was incredible to end 2017 celebrating several positive steps forward for songwriter equity outlined in this recent HuffPost article. While the industry now has some tremendous momentum in further protecting and enhancing the value of your music, songwriter support is essential towards our collectively achieving these long-term goals.

To that end, we strongly encourage you to sign a petition asking Congress to pass the Music Modernization Act of 2017 (MMA), and share it with your social networks. As you may know, late last year, Congressman Doug Collins and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries introduced the MMA– legislation designed to reform the way songwriters are paid in the digital age.

The NMPA hopes to collect over 10,000 songwriter signatures before the House Judiciary Field Hearing in New York on Friday, January 26th.
