    Copyright Assistant:

    Downtown is seeking to bring on a Copyright Assistant to join our Administration department. You will be working directly with the Director of Copyright in all areas of copyright. You will be responsible for entering and maintaining various copyrights within a Music Maestro database. You will also be responsible for registering all repertoire with PRO’s, societies, DSPRA’s and sub-publishers worldwide via CWR.

    What will you be doing?:

    • Enter and maintain copyrights in the Music Maestro database;
    • Register all repertoire with PRO’s, societies, DSPRA’s and sub-publishers worldwide via CWR;
    • Process CWR ACK files and manage/resolve counterclaims and conflicts on a worldwide basis; and

    YouTube Rights Management Intern

    This part-time internship will primarily support the responsibilities of Downtown Music Publishing’s YouTube Specialist. The YouTube Rights Management Intern will learn about YouTube; how it generates income for people and businesses, how people engage with the world’s largest social video platform, and how music copyright fits into all of this. The YouTube Rights Management Intern will learn to navigate YouTube’s backend (CMS dashboard) and determine how to review and monetize videos that contain our clients’ music. Attention to detail and strong research skills are key for this internship, as the Intern will be tasked with gathering music metadata. The YouTube Rights Management Intern will also be responsible for maintaining Downtown’s YouTube Channel by researching topical songs and curating the channel’s playlists. This internship will provide the Intern an opportunity to manage and evaluate YouTube’s backend and test new strategies.

    FINANCE INTERN:

    The role of the Finance Intern will be to assist in capital raising activities, analyze potential deals with songwriters and perform any other projects that are related to the Finance Team. By the end of the internship, the intern will have a strong understanding of deal modeling, the business of music publishing, and have enhanced skills in Microsoft Office. In addition to working with the Finance Team, the intern will be working closely with the Business Development Team and the Royalties Team.

    SO, WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    • Assisting the Marketing & Communications Designer in day to day activities of the marketing department;
    • Executing on design and development of layouts for marketing materials, using appealing graphics that are clean and well organized
      • Assisting with data migration from the company’s current CMS (WordPress) to Hubspot, and building out content for new pages
    • Executing on photography/video editing projects
    • Brainstorming and developing marketing campaigns daily for our social accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, Youtube, LinkedIn etc.)
    • Contributing to the creation and organization of client and Downtown brand assets
    • Researching new marketing strategies, and presenting ideas
    • Managing and organizing client assets;

    YOU ARE:

    • A visually compelling storyteller with an ability to execute ideas that push boundaries
    • A stickler when it comes to attention to detail and can demonstrate this by your ability to synthesize complex information and present it in a clear, concise and digestible manner
    • Current undergraduate student (rising Sophomore or above) pursuing degree in Fine Arts / Graphic Design, Journalism, Business, Web Design, Music or another relevant field
    • Interested in/obsessed with music, pop culture, entertainment, memes, and general internet culture
    • Experienced with Adobe InDesign, and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
    • A task manager with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work assignments appropriately, in a deadline-oriented environment
    • Positive, proactive, and resourceful
    • Creative at the core, and excited about pitching ideas
    • Open to constructive criticism and feedback
    • Computer literate, internet and social media savvy, and experienced with Google Docs & Drive
    • Knowledgeable in photo/video editing applications i.e. Photoshop, iPhoto, iMovie, Final Cut, etc.
    • Bonus points if you know how to work with Sketch / InVision
    • Previous experience in HTML5, CSS3 and Adobe Suite is prefered
    • Knowledge of WordPress, Hubspot, JavaScript, JQuery or PHP is a huge plus

    DATA ANALYST INTERN:

    Downtown is seeking a passionate Data Analyst Intern who is excited by all the opportunities available in data and the Music Industry. By the end of the internship, the intern will have a strong understanding of data analysis, and the business of music publishing.

    SO, WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    • Gathering data and analyzing results to gain business and customer insights
    • Working with the Data Analyst to present findings to management
    • Assisting in analyzing conceptual, logical and physical data models and documenting business concepts, data entities, data elements and the relationship between them
    • Reviewing master data against the presently used data in various business processes to identify the gaps, discrepancies and the opportunities to further improve quality of master data
    • Participating in documenting systems and processes interactions within a functional scope
    • Performing various data quality functions for data from multiple systems such as: Profile, cleanse, validate and audit
    • Taking part in master data quality improvement activities through analysis and remediation of data quality issues.

    YOU ARE:

    • Working towards a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or similar
    • Comfortable working with large datasets
    • Knowledgeable about SQL

    Royalties Intern

    The purpose of this internship is to support a busy royalties department while learning about all facets of publishing day­ to­ day operations in a rapidly growing company. You will learn all about the different types of royalties and how they are processed; gaining a solid understanding of how royalties are generated, collected, and distributed to our clients. You will be introduced to specific software, as well as organizational and business processes, that will further your understanding of music publishing.

    SO, WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    • Organizing and maintaining royalty database
    • Reviewing royalty statements for accuracy
    • Processing incoming royalties in Music Maestro
    • Various ad-hoc tasks characteristic of the department and company overall

    YOU ARE:

    • Comfortable and skilled in both written and verbal communication
    • Someone who has an interest and basic understanding of music publishing and copyright law
    • Knowledgeable of the domestic PRO’s and major royalty administrators in the U.S.
    • Able to identity the main royalty types collected by Publishers
    • Skilled in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, and experienced in collecting, organizing, and manipulating large pools of data

    DMP Nashville opened in 2014 and has quickly become one the top publishers in the Nashville music community. The Nashville office is a creative hub representing writers and artists working to provide them with a variety of creative collaborations and opportunities. DMP Nashville has had cuts on various major label country albums including, Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Josh Turner, Granger Smith, Justin Moore, Chris Lane and more.
