With five top 10 titles contributed to by six Downtown songwriters, our clients are dominating the Australian charts. The Ryan Tedder co-written hit "Sucker" by the Jonas Brothers continues to hold the number one spot on the ARIA Singles Chart. Also charting in the top 10 are the Jimmy Napes co-written single "Dancing With a Stranger" by Sam Smith & Normani as well as the Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt co-penned Oscar-winner "Shallow" by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper. The A Star is Born soundtrack itself is included in the ARIA Albums Chart's top 10, as is the Nikki Sixx co-written soundtrack for Mötley Crüe's Netflix biopic, The Dirt.
Celebrating its third consecutive week atop the chart, Down Under, "Sucker" is certified Gold — with over 35,000 sales. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has topped several charts in countries around the globe.
"Dancing With a Stranger" recently joined the Mediabase top 10 in both the pop and hot adult contemporary radio charts as well.
As Rolling Stone recently attested, "Shallow" is "becoming part of the pop culture lexicon." With a plethora of notable covers and numerous accolades, including two GRAMMYs and an Oscar, the song continues to chart worldwide.
Additionally, the A Star Is Born soundtrack includes writing by Jason Isbell, who penned the song "Maybe It's Time."
The Dirt includes some of Mötley Crüe's celebrated classics like “Kickstart My Heart,” “Dr. Feelgood,” and “Home Sweet Home,” as well as brand new cuts such as title track “The Dirt (Est. 1981)” featuring rapper Machine Gun Kelly. This is the soundtrack's first week on the chart, which also entered the Billboard 200 at No. 10.
In February, Downtown celebrated the one year anniversary of our Sydney office's opening at a performance by two of its first signings, John Butler and Stella Donnelly, at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt.
