We are delighted to announce that Peter Rosenthal has been appointed as our General Counsel. Based in New York, Peter will oversee all aspects of the worldwide legal and business affairs for Downtown and our affiliates, including publishing, administration, license agreements, and other transactional matters, acquisitions, global policy, digital licensing strategy, enforcement, and corporate matters.
Peter has more than twenty years of experience counseling clients in the entertainment, new media, technology, and fashion and luxury goods industries, and structuring, negotiating, and documenting a wide array of corporate, commercial, and intellectual property agreements and transactions. Prior to Downtown, he was a partner in the New York office of the law firm Ritholz Levy Fields LLP, where he’d spent more than thirteen years. Before joining the firm, Peter's diverse background included roles at Playboy.com, Inc., Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP, and the Entrepreneurial Services Group of Bingham, Dana & Gould.
Peter is an occasional guest speaker on copyright at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, and contributor to articles on copyright matters. He holds degrees from Oberlin College and Boston University School of Law.
