Australian singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly took home three awards at the 2019 WAMAwards, including the institution's inaugural Artist of the Year Award, in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel Perth on October 31 — as part of WAMFest, an annual event celebrating contemporary Western Australian music.
Selected by a panel of industry judges, Stella is the prestigious award's first recipient. "Recognizing the origins of WAM being artist and music driven, it is important to continue to recognize the work of artists," said WAM CEO Mike Harris of the award in a statement, calling it a "best-of-the-best" honor. Nominated for Most Popular Act and Most Popular Live Act, besides Artist of the Year, Stella won awards for Best Pop Act — which she also received in 2018 — as well as Best Album for her critically-acclaimed debut LP, Beware of the Dogs, released earlier this year.
Stella was the first signing of our Sydney office, which celebrated its one year anniversary in February with a performance by Stella and John Butler at the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt.
Congrats to all of this year's WAMAwards winners and nominees from your friends at Downtown.
