The Nikki Sixx-penned Mötley Crüe classic “Kickstart My Heart” is prominently featured in Planters’ "Mr. Peanut is Always There in Crunch Time" ad, which aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday night.
Named one of “this year’s best Super Bowl commercials” by Vogue, the spot is driven by the Crüe’s headbanging rhythms — and also includes cameos by actor Charlie Sheen and baseball player Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez. It is the brand’s first Super Bowl ad in a decade, and its first-ever starring their iconic Mr. Peanut mascot.
Known for its larger-than-life advertisements, Super Bowl Sunday is no stranger to the Crüe. The band itself was also featured in a Kia commercial that aired during the big game in 2012.
In addition to the Planters spot, Maroon 5’s multi-platinum global hit “Moves Like Jagger” was performed during their halftime show — featuring rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi of OutKast.
Downtown proudly represents “Kickstart My Heart,” written by Nikki Sixx for Mötley Crüe, as well as Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger,” co-written by Benny Blanco.
