Downtown is excited to represent The Teskey Brothers, described by HuffPost as the "Aussie Soul Band With An Unbelievable Sound," on the global stage.
“We're so happy to be teaming up with Downtown Music Publishing. The four of us in The Teskey Brothers all love writing songs and we're all really excited about getting them out into the world with the help of this passionate bunch of legends." - Sam Teskey
The Teskey Brothers originated in The Yarra Valley, just outside Melbourne. Brothers Josh and Sam Teskey with local neighborhood friends, Brendon Love and Liam Gough all share a love of American soul music of the 1960's. Listening to their album in 2018, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was the work of Stax Records alumni in Memphis circa 1967. Half Mile Harvest honors the old school Motown sound whilst also working it into something of their very own, with Josh Teskey’s smoked whiskey voice and the band holding an irresistible groove.
After stunning audiences at SXSW and The Great Escape, The Teskey Brothers have played shows in Australia, USA, and Japan. Following dates in New Zealand, they will return to the studio to record their highly-anticipated sophomore album.
In 2017, The Teskey Brothers released their self-produced, independent album, Half Mile Harvest, debuting in the ARIA Top 20 albums and at #1 on the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) album chart. Half Mile Harvest received an AIR Awards nomination for Best Independent Blues & Roots album.
