Today, we announced the appointment of Delmar Powell as Vice President of A&R. Based in L.A., Delmar will be responsible for scouting and signing new artists, songwriters, and producers, as well as creating opportunities for Downtown clients and copyrights in the global marketplace — reporting to Downtown Senior Vice President and Head of A&R, North America, Andrew Gould.
Prior to Downtown, Delmar served as Director, A&R Urban at Republic Records. Reporting to Wendy Goldstein and Rob Stevenson, he signed and developed Marc E. Bassy — whose platinum single “You & Me” featuring G-Eazy surpassed over 300 million streams worldwide. While at Republic, he worked with artists like Hailee Steinfeld, Kiana Lede, Natalie LaRose, Zendaya, and Adrian Marcel, among others. He also represented Republic as the A&R liaison for NBC’s hit TV series The Voice.
With a decade of experience in the music industry, Delmar previously held positions at Atlantic Records, TVT Records, JIVE Records, and managed multi-platinum singer-songwriter and producer Prince Chrishan “PC” (Right Now Sound), who has collaborated with Meek Mill, French Montana, Drake, Chris Brown, Gucci Mane, Usher, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla Sign, and more.
